HEMBOO wants to create a bridge between natural sustainable building materials and traditional building methods.

The HEMBOO wall is a prefabricated wall panel that goes from floor to ceiling. It’s an outerwall solution where hemp is the insulation and wood provides the load bearing capacity. It uses bamboo and hemp concrete, hemp molded together -a mixture of lime, water and the residual product from hemp production; hemp shards. HEMBOO wall is almost CO2 neutral, with a Carbon Footprint of around 5 kg CO2-eq/m2.

HEMBOO has a mission to make building elements that can be used in high-rise buildings, and thus make a big difference in the industry’s impact on the environment. The combination of hemp concrete and bamboo makes the HEMBOO wall functionally comparable but more sustainable than concrete elements, since it is partly composed of a recyclable bio-based material that binds CO2 when they grow.
